If you're considering becoming a parent, please be aware that parenting is exhausting & difficult.

I'm not telling you not to have kids.

It's just that when you make the choice to have a child, you are making the choice to make your life harder. You may find it very fulfilling, & you may love your child very much, but you will have to WORK SO HARD. Just know that going in.

Make an informed choice.

Also: if you think that having a kid is going to somehow 'fix' your relationship, it won't.

It may not feel like people need to be told that, but some do.

Some people who choose to have kids have never so much as been responsible for a child's well-being for a couple of hours.

So if that's you... maybe get some perspective about what it's actually like & what kids actually need before you bring a human into the world.

@artemis Also, you are not guaranteed that your kid will be what you expect.

I was in a group for parenting trans kids and one of the mothers said, "All I wanted was 2.5 kids and a white picket fence."

I replied, "That's what you got."

She blocked me.

You cannot allow your expectations to define your relationship with the kids. They are their own people. Love them for who they are, not what they're doing for you.
