Would there be a trusted person or non-hostile company within the #Fediverse that could maybe offer me a loan to secure the future of our Fedi services?

I’ve been thinking about this for some time and I know it’s far from optimal but I feel like I need to do something for the longer term

I’m not looking for investors and I don’t want to put up the services as collateral, it’s for safe keeping

It has to be someone who wants and CAN afford to help out, I want it done responsibly

Yikes! I know it must be exhausting trying to keep your systems afloat by always having to solicit donations, but I’d very very careful about taking on debt without a plan to increase income or reduce expenses. 😬

People get their shorts in a wad, but the Fediverse has a *freeloading problem* that needs to be addressed.

Everyone has a responsibility to support the community.

It's ridiculous to claim many or most users can't, that somehow everyone here is an impoverished edge case.

Requiring a $2 monthly minimum for individuals / $4 for businesses & organizations is absolutely reasonable.

Everyone has a responsibility for the common good, or Fediverse is not sustainable.

@MissGayle @samuel @fname @CAWguy @stux Toxic Capitalism. Notice that right out of the gate your proposal has a built-in price disparity. If it comes to pass I’ll simply exercise my then “consumer” choice. If it ain’t oxygen, I can live without it.

I just want to make sure I’m understanding: are you saying that if you were asked to contribute to the costs of running the instance you’re on you would leave? Do I have that right?

I think that's exactly what he saying. He's trying to disguise his selfishness by whining about capitalism, but it's just him saying me me me mine mine mine and who gives a rats rear end about the community. By his own tacit admission, he's not part of it.
