Would there be a trusted person or non-hostile company within the #Fediverse that could maybe offer me a loan to secure the future of our Fedi services?

I’ve been thinking about this for some time and I know it’s far from optimal but I feel like I need to do something for the longer term

I’m not looking for investors and I don’t want to put up the services as collateral, it’s for safe keeping

It has to be someone who wants and CAN afford to help out, I want it done responsibly

Yikes! I know it must be exhausting trying to keep your systems afloat by always having to solicit donations, but I’d very very careful about taking on debt without a plan to increase income or reduce expenses. 😬

People get their shorts in a wad, but the Fediverse has a *freeloading problem* that needs to be addressed.

Everyone has a responsibility to support the community.

It's ridiculous to claim many or most users can't, that somehow everyone here is an impoverished edge case.

Requiring a $2 monthly minimum for individuals / $4 for businesses & organizations is absolutely reasonable.

Everyone has a responsibility for the common good, or Fediverse is not sustainable.

@MissGayle @fname @CAWguy @stux nothing is stopping you running an instance on that basis. go right ahead.

If I ever do, I will. In the meantime I give $10 a month to my personal instance, $5 to this one, and $5 to my side gig account, which covers myself, my husband, and several other unknown people.

Because I accept my responsibility to support the community.
